Popular EducationAs a founding member of the North American Association of Popular and Adult Educators (NAAPAE), Highlander promotes the understanding and practice of popular education approaches among community groups and universities. Our Harry Lasker Library has extensive collection of case studies, oral histories, and model curricula from adult education programs in this country, Canada, India, Denmark, Nicaragua, Zimbabwe, and Ecuador, covering such topics as industrial worker literacy, community research by high school students, radio education programs, programs for immigrants and indigenous peoples, and democratic facilitation. We know of no other collection like it in the Southeast. For more information about the library and its collections, go to our library page. Books and pamphlets on popular education are also available through our Bookstore on the Books about Popular Education page of our Web site. Be sure to check out the links to other popular education organizations on our Links page. Several of these also offer resources that can be ordered or downloaded online. |
