Vigil for Dignity and Justice for All
Knoxville; 4/10/06
On April 10, 2006, 2,500-3,000 people rallied in Knoxville to protest proposed anti-immigrant legislation and demand real, fair immigration reform. The event was organized by the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition and included a march through downtown Knoxville and a gathering in front the City/County Building, where Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has his local office. Letters signed by the protesters were presented to Senator Frist's staff, letting him know in very clear terms that immigrants want to be treated with dignity and respect
