Apply by June 3rd!

Seeds of Fire Camp is a multiracial, multi-issue space committed to examining the world we live in.

We are:

Sharing skills and information to encourage young people to organize with others to improve their schools, communities and the world!

Making connections between our issues locally, regionally, nationally & globally.

Developing lasting relationships and keeping in touch.

Understanding ageism and adultism and its intersection with other forms of oppression and supporting adult allies working with young people.

Building capacity among groups of young leaders and adult allies in the South and Appalachia.

Having fun!

In the Spirit of hope, justice and time honored tradition, we confront racism, sexism, classism, heterosexism and ageism at the roots. And we're in it for the long haul. Seeds of Fire is a crop of Southerners with a fresh vision. We are youth; we are young adults; we are intergenerational communities. We are daring Southern Appalachia, we are the determined Deep South; we are courageous immigrant communities; we are (extra) ordinary Southern families…we are the new South our ancestors dreamed of.

Seeds of Fire Camp takes place at the Highlander Center on a farm in east Tennessee. Seeds of Fire participants stay in dormitories at the center and meet and eat here for the week.

The camp consists of youth and adult ally tracks that will come together for meals and intergenerational programming. The ally track gives adults a rare chance to support and challenge each other, exploring how to best foster youth leadership.

Seeds of Fire isn’t just a camp! It’s the beginning of a long relationship between you, Highlander, and other folks interested in changing the world.

Apply today! There’s no application or attendance fee! You’ll come out of this week prepared to organize, train others and pass the fire.

APPLY TODAY!

Gather your team of three people from your organization or community (1 adult ally and 2 youth activists, or 3 youth activists).

To apply, please fill out our online application forms by June 3, 2008. Please submit one application per person, along with the team application.
