The Carpetbag Theatre's 5th Annual Show What You Know Festival is a moveable feast celebrating community knowledge and expertise through the arts.

Participants will experience four days of community-based arts events in multiple venues throughout Greater Knoxville, including a local artist showcase; community dialogues; a popular education workshop facilitated by Highlander staff around access to land, land loss, and housing issues in Appalachia; and more!

The Carpetbag Theatre presents an artist showcase for Knoxville-based visual and performing artists.

The Carpetbag Theatre will build the touring capacity of 15 local women artists through a series of critical response salons and a performance showcase presented in conjunction with the 5th Annual Show What You Know Festival.

Participants engaged in Helen Ross McNabb's Sisters of the Rainbow program for women in recovery from drug and alcohol abuse will perform a new work using digital stories and live performance. The central theme of recovery is told through fairy tales and other storytelling methods.

The Carpetbag Theatre presents Washington, DC-based theater artist Anu Yadav funded by National Performance Network.

Pushing past the boundaries of theater, documentary and activism, 'Capers is a one-woman show based on the stories of families at the Arthur Capper/Carrollsburg public housing projects - also known as 'Capers - in southeast DC who protested the government-funded relocation and demolition of their neighborhood. Rose Oliphant, community organizer from 'Capers will be available to talk about Hope VI and its effects on this neighborhood.

The Carpetbag Theatre presents art and community dialogues around human rights, including the human right to housing.

The Education Team of the Highlander Research & Education Center will facilitate learning exchanges with through popular education exercises around access to land, land loss, and housing issues throughout Appalachia. Highlander has been working for social, economic, and environmental justice in Appalachia and the U.S. South since 1932. And there will be exciting opportunities for engaging in the artistic process with various artists.

The Carpetbag Theatre presents Nashville-based samba musicians Dann Sherrill and Trio Ginga.

The World Grotto will co-host an open workshop celebrating the diversity of our community. The community will learn to play samba rhythms on instruments made of common household materials and learn about samba culture. Trio Ginga will show what they know in a live concert following the workshop.
